We are so close but yet so far to having tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and tomatillos. And the dang deer keep getting in and taking bites off of the beans, chard, squash, and decimating the sweet potato leaves -- setting those plants back. Time to step up the fencing game. Electric fencing is next on the agenda.
On the upside, the cucumbers are doing great compared to last year! I am growing them in a screened hoophouse to protect them from the cucumber beetles that decimated them last year. I am growing two varieties, one of which is growing very long and skinny on the vertical trellis, looking more like an overgrown zucchini than a cucumber.
In this weeks share: basil, beans, beets, broccoli/cauliflower, carrots, cucumber, lettuce mix, onions, summer squash (for some), and kale/chard for the greens folks.
