Hey everyone, it is that time again! The glut of produce you have received the last few weeks is slowing down a bit. Well, except for the peppers. Those are coming in fast and furious! Peppers are super easy to freeze. Cut them up, put them in a freezer bag, and you're done! Well, except for labeling. You should definitely label them. Because you don't want to pull out a bag of sweet lunchbox peppers and use them in a stir fry only to find out those were not lunchbox peppers after all (ask me how I know this). Also, if you are cutting up hot peppers, be sure to wear gloves, or at least wash your hands pretty thoroughly before taking out your contacts (ask Aaron how he knows this). Check the website for photos of the different types of peppers in your share this week.
The lettuce mix is a little light this week (and will be next week as well). The heat heat has really been affecting their growth rate. I have planted a lot more lettuces, and those should do *much* better with the advent of cooler weather (cooler weather is coming, right?!?).
The following two weeks are going to be a little screwy, in terms of delivery, so keep your eyes peeled for an email about that in a few days.
In your share this week: beans, carrots, chard (for the greens folks), lettuce mix, parsley, peppers (a mix), onion, summer squash, tomatoes (a mix), and turnips (except for you Todd, because I know how you feel about turnips).
Speaking of turnips, there are a lot of great recipes online, so do a little googling and see if you can find one that appeals to you. Feel free to share on the members Facebook page if you find something you like! And parsley can be dried using the instructions I sent out last week, so give that a try.
